Fluval Stratum – 4.4 lb

Fluval Stratum is a volcanic soil collected from the mineral-rich foothills of the famous Mount Aso Volcano. It is an ideal substrate for stimulating the growth of aquatic plants in freshwater aquariums. Roots are easily able to penetrate and spread throughout this substrate, allowing plants to obtain a variety of readily available nutrients. The addition of Fluval Plant Micro Nutrients also ensures a full complement of essential micro and macro nutrients.

This light and non-compacting substrate helps to support beneficial nitrifying bacteria. They quickly colonize its porous structure, helping to maintain optimal water quality for plants and other inhabitants. Stratum helps maintain a neutral to slightly acidic pH that is ideal for most plant species, as well as fish or shrimp typically kept in planted aquaria. It provides a refuge for newborn shrimp, allowing them to avoid early-stage predation. Fluval Stratum will not discolor your aquarium water, and even helps to control organic discoloration often present when natural driftwood is used.
